Launch of "FY 2010 Food Industry CO2 Reduction Competition"

The Japan Research Institute, Limited is launching an "FY 2010 Food Industry CO2 Reduction Competition", aimed at the food industry, as a Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries subsidized project. Companies throughout the food industry are invited to submit entries setting out their initiatives for the reduction of CO2. Prizes including Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries award will be awarded for the most progressive and effective entries. The awards ceremony will be held in February 4th, 2011 in belle salle Shinjuku Sumitomo hall in Shinjuku, Tokyo

Background

Global warming is an issue of worldwide concern and in Japan too, there is pressure for a visible reduction in CO2 emissions. Against this backdrop, the food industry needs to find effective means of reducing its CO2 emissions. In honoring companies that are making efforts in this area, the project aims to promote CO2 emissions reduction in the food industry by increasing motivation and promoting awareness of outstanding case studies within the industry.
