COVID-19 Case in Singapore Confirmed to have been working in SMBC premises at Centennial Tower

March 13, 2020 --- The Japan Research Institute, Limited (“JRI”) Singapore branch was alerted that a vendor’s staff working in the premises of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (“SMBC”) Singapore branch (Address : 3 Temasek Avenue #06-01, Centennial Tower, Singapore 039190, Republic of Singapore) was confirmed with COVID-19.

The vendor’s staff, engaged for backend systems development, had worked in a restricted meeting room area at the premise – Centennial Tower office – away from the staff’s offices and with no interactions with the Bank’s customers.

Upon being notified, SMBC immediately identified and sent home employees who were in close contact with confirmed case, as well as deeply cleaned and sanitized the office levels where that case was present and where staff who had interacted with him were seated.

The safety of our customers and employees is of utmost importance to us. While SMBC Singapore and JRI Singapore have activated our business continuity plans, the businesses remain fully operational. We will continue to work closely with related local authorities to implement additional measures and precautions where necessary, and seek the kind understanding and cooperation of our customers and related parties as we continue to stay vigilant to protect the health and well-being of our community.
