May 28, 2012
Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (President: Koichi Miyata; “SMFG”), Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (President: Takeshi Kunibe; SMBC) and The Japan Research Institute, Limited (President: Junsuke Fujii; “JRI”), as part of their voluntary electricity-saving program, will implement measures that take account of the environment, installing solar power generation equipment at their computer center.
SMFG has been pursuing electricity savings for many years, but by way of additional measures from this summer will be installing solar power generation equipment on the roof of the group’s main computer center and plans to begin using it from July this year. To reduce the impact of weather conditions, they equipment will be used alongside storage batteries, to provide a stable supply of electricity at peak consumption times during the day.
SMFG will pursue further such initiatives and, in the medium-to-long term will strive actively to use eco-friendly clean energy and to reduce the energy burden.
