JRI Establishes Systems Subsidiary in Shanghai, China

Overview

The Japan Research Institute, Limited ("JRI"; Head office: 16 Ichiban-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Shunichi Okuyama) has established a new subsidiary in Shanghai that will provide systems integration services to Japanese companies establishing operations in China, named "The Japan Research Institute (Shanghai) Solution Co., Ltd." (Offices: Pudong New District, Shanghai, People's Republic of China; President: Tomoyuki Kawanaka; Capital: US $1 million).

Initially, the new company will undertake IT work such as systems operation and local systems development for Sumitomo-Mitsui Banking Corporation Shanghai Branch, another member of the Group, and in future plans to undertake IT work on behalf of other branches of the bank in China, helping to strengthen the Group's presence in China.

Since Japanese-affiliated companies establishing operations in China for the first time have extensive systems needs, the new company will work with JRI's management consulting subsidiary in Shanghai, The Japan Research Institute (Shanghai) Consulting Co., Ltd. (established in January 2005), to provide a full range of support services for companies establishing operations in China, ranging from consulting services relating to the establishment of local operations, currently provided to Japanese-affiliated companies by the management consulting subsidiary, to system implementation.

The addition of the new subsidiary in Shanghai - a city where a large number of Japanese-affiliated companies are establishing operations - to its network of overseas branches and subsidiaries in London, New York and Singapore will enable JRI to cater more fully to the overseas systems needs of clients. JRI will continue to expand its global network.
