JRI supports the introduction of an “eco-friendliness evaluation-type fund procurement scheme” by Kansai Urban Banking Corporation

December 21, 2012

The Japan Research Institute, Limited (JRI) has harnessed expertise and know-how it acquired in the joint development of an “eco-friendliness evaluation-type fund procurement scheme” with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) to provide support to Kansai Urban Banking Corporation in its introduction of the “Kansai Urban Eco-Friendliness Evaluation Lending/Private Placement” scheme.

The “eco-friendliness evaluation-type fund procurement scheme” is a system that involves evaluating the eco-friendliness of customers’ business management on the basis of unique evaluation criteria devised by SMBC and JRI and setting loan conditions according to the results of the evaluation. It also supports customers in the pursuit of eco-friendly business management by making the results of their evaluations available and giving feedback through analyzing their current performance in eco-friendly business management, identifying issues for the future and providing case studies on dealing with such issues, etc.

SMBC and JRI believe that eco-friendliness is a key issue for business management and are working to promote harmony between environmental protection and corporate activities. The Group will continue to support companies in the pursuit of eco-friendly business management through the propagation of such “eco-friendliness evaluation-type fund procurement schemes”.
