This report examines the wide-ranging impact of the Tohoku-Pacific Earthquake on Japan’s economy as identified to date, outlines the major issues to be resolved if the economy as a whole is to be steered in a favorable direction through restoration and reform in the disaster area and in the Kanto region, and makes suggestions for a short-term policy response.
